How To Choos The Best Ad Sizes

How can we choose which ad seize to use?

When we have to choose the best ad sizes we need to take a few parameters into consideration, the IAB, the performance, the ad slot, and the demand partners.

The first thing we need to think about is the device category:

If we are using responsive layout, we will need to create responsive unit (DFP or Adsense), in responsive unit the same ad slot will need to adjust to mobile and desktop view, if we are using Adsense, we will create a responsive unit and implement them on the page, if we are using DFP we will need to control the sizes using the mapping.

For mobile we will use the following sizes: 300×250, 320×50, 320×100.

For desktop we can use multiple sizes: 970×250, 970×90, 728×90, 468×90, 336×280, 300×250, 300×600, 160×600.

IAB:

This is always important to use the IAB standard sizes, because the best demand partners are working with this size and if the we are working on a custom size we will not have a good fill rate.

Advance:

After that we are ready, we can start adjusting the sizes according to the Analytics, we can check what is the common screen sizes and adjust the banner sizes to the screen resolution, for example:

Screen over 1080 – use 970×250

Screen under 1080 – use 728×90

Screen under 400 use 300×250

Conclusions:

Adjusting the ad sizes, is a “must” process in monetization process, therefore investigate your user behavior and devices and adjust for sizes.
